About Us
The UIBE Competition Law Center is an academic and research institution specialized in competition and antitrust law.
Against the backdrop of globalization of world economy and the rapid growth of the China market, domestic entrepreneurs realize that the survival and development of their business depend on the competitiveness and order of the market itself, which has created a demand for the study and research of the “Magna Carta of free enterprise”, as well as government’s competition policy. Yet as an emerging discipline in this country, competition law covers many different subjects and involves various practical issues and political ramifications. The line between legal and illegal in this arena is usually thin, and one needs to factor in a lot of data and facts before he could make a determination on a specific business practice. The Center is therefore created in order to provide academic support and professional advice to the government, enterprises and other organizations.
Founded upon the University of International Business and Economics, the Center is able to utilize the university’s resources and advantages in the field of economics, management and international trade, so as to build up its economic and legal analytical strength, and to conduct comprehensive studies on a cross-discipline basis, as a response to the demands and challenges posted in real life. The Center has established a professional research team. Particularly, the Center’s Director, Professor Yong Huang, has been a well-known figure and a productive writer in this area. He serves as an expert adviser for the State Council on the drafting of Anti-Monopoly Law for a long time, and is well informed on the history and development of this bill. Under his leadership, Associate Professor Ling Dong and a group of Ph.D. students and graduate students have been teamed up to research on subjects that cover the broad spectrum of competition law.
Since its establishment, the Center has been advising the government and industries with its own research products, and it has built up a platform for cross-disciplinary research and communications, and a bridge that bring the people from governmental agencies, industries and academic institutions together. We has hosted a series of international conferences on this subject in recent years, which have become excellent occasions for all parties to have face-to-face contact. These events have generated very good responses from both the academic circle and the society. At the same time, members of the Center are frequently invited to attend domestic and foreign high-level conferences to present our latest products and to introduce to the world China’s competition legal system. We have very good relationships with the competition authorities and influential scholars and institutions in many countries.
In order to further promote the development of China’s competition law, the Center has also undertaken a lot of research projects in this area for the State Council’s Legislative Office, the State Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Justice, the Sino-EU exchange project and the Asian Development Bank. Moreover, the center also advises non-governmental organizations, domestic enterprises, multinational corporations and other institutions on competition law matters, using its expertise to pay back the society.
The UIBE Competition Law Center looks forward to cooperating with you!
